By no means! By the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 a warning to humans, 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 About the guilty: 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
