Nay, by the Moon 32 And the night when it departs, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 a warning to mortal man 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 In Gardens they will question 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
