Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers. 4 Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So) he desires to continue committing sins. 5 He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 So when the eyes will be blinded by light. 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 And the sun and the moon will be united. 9 people will say, "Is there anywhere to run away?" 10 Never! There is no refuge! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 Man will be apprised, on that Day, of what he has done and what he has left undone: 13 nay, but man shall against himself be an eye-witness, 14 even though he might make up excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue therewith that thou mayest hasten therewith. 16 Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 Then Ours it is to explain it. 19 None except you, O disbelievers – you love what you have, the fleeting one. 20 and neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 Looking at their Lord (Allah); 23 and some faces will on that Day be overcast with despair, 24 Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. 25 Nay; when a man's soul reaches up to the throat, 26 And it is asked: "Is there any reciter of charms and amulets?" 27 And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting 28 when his legs are brought together [when affliction is combined with affliction]; 29 To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. 30
