Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer). 2 Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones? 3 Yea! WE are Able to put together evenly his finger-tips. 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 He asks, "When will be the Day of Judgment?" 6 But when sight is confounded 7 And the moon becomes dark, 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 Never! There is no refuge! 11 For on that Day the refuge shall be to your Lord. 12 On that day, man will be informed of all what he sent ahead and left behind. 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 even though he may veil himself in excuses. 15 Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it, 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 It's explanation is upon Us. 19 No! But you love the immediate 20 And neglect the hereafter. 21 Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant). 22 and will be looking towards their Lord; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 But when [man's soul] reaches the throat, 26 and it is said: 'Who is a healing chanter' 27 (the angels of mercy or the angels of wrath,)" then, he will realize that it is time to leave this world. 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession. 30
