Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones? 3 Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! 4 But man wishes to do wrong (even) in the time in front of him. 5 He asks: When is the day of resurrection? 6 When, then, the sight shall be confounded. 7 and the moon eclipsed, 8 And the sun and moon are joined together,- 9 people will say, "Is there anywhere to run away?" 10 But there is nowhere to take refuge: 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 even though he might make up excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 And when We read it, follow thou the reading; 18 It's explanation is upon Us. 19 Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 That day will faces be resplendent, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 thou mightest think the Calamity has been wreaked on them. 25 Never so, for when life withdraws into the clavicula, 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession. 30
