Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 But nay! I call to witness the accusing voice of man's own conscience! 2 What, does the human think We shall never gather his bones? 3 Indeed yes, We are able to shape his fingerstips yet again! 4 But man would fain deny what is before him. 5 He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 But [on that Day], when mortal sight is confounded, 7 And the moon shall be ecliped. 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 people will say, "Is there anywhere to run away?" 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 The only place of refuge will be with God. 12 Man shall on that day be informed of what he sent before and (what he) put off. 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 even though he may veil himself in excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 then it will be for Us to explain it. 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 And neglect the hereafter. 21 How many faces will be refulgent on that Day, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 And countenances on that Day shall be scowling. 24 knowing that a crushing calamity is about to befall them. 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 And it will be said: "Who can cure him and save him from death?" 27 And he will conclude that it was (the Time) of Parting; 28 And affliction is combined with affliction; 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
