The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
