Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ No! I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Does man think We shall not put his bones together? 3 Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! 4 Nay, but man desires to continue on as a libertine, 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 When the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon shall be ecliped. 8 And the sun and the moon will be united. 9 people will say, "Is there anywhere to run away?" 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 The only place of refuge will be with God. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 Indeed, man shall be a witness against himself, 14 Even if he presents his excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 We shall be responsible for its collection and its recitation. 17 Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]: 18 Then upon Us is its clarification [to you]. 19 Truly, you love immediate gain 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 On that Day there shall be radiant faces, 22 Looking to their Lord. 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 Knowing that there will be made to befall them some great calamity. 25 Never so, for when life withdraws into the clavicula, 26 and it is said: “Is there any enchanter who can step forward and help (by his chanting)?” 27 the while he [himself] knows that this is the parting, 28 When legs are twisted around each other, 29 That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! 30
