Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Resurrection?' 6 So, when the sight shall be dazed, 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 And the sun and the moon will be united. 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 No indeed; not a refuge! 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 Although he tender his excuses. 15 Move not your tongue concerning (the Quran, O Muhammad SAW) to make haste therewith. 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 And so when We recite it, follow its recitation attentively; 18 Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 and neglect the life to come. 21 Upon that day faces shall be radiant, 22 Waiting for their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 and it is said, 'Who is an enchanter?' 27 And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. 30
