The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, 6 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; 7 And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him, 8 Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. 13 The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; 14 And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], 15 crystal of silver that they have measured -- very exactly. 16 And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 (The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths will go about them, when you see them, you would suppose them to be scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." 22
