The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. 3 We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. 4 Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. 5 a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. 6 they who keep their vows and fear a Day whose evil is spread; 7 And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: 8 [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: 9 We fear the dismal day calamitous from our Lord." 10 But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. 11 And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, 12 Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. 16 And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- 17 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. 18 ۞ There wait on them immortal youths, whom, when thou seest, thou wouldst take for scattered pearls. 19 And when thou lookest, it is there thou wilt see a Bliss and a Realm Magnificent. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink. 21 (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." 22
