Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the emissary winds, sent one after another (for men's benefit), 1 Then by oath of those that push with a strong gust. 2 by the scatterers scattering 3 And the scattering winds scattering. 4 And by the angels that bring the revelations to the Messengers, 5 excusing or warning, 6 Surely, what you are promised must come to pass. 7 So when the lights of the stars are put out. 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 when the mountains shall be scattered 10 and when the messengers are brought together at the appointed time -- 11 If one asks, "To which day have such calamitous events been postponed?" 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what could make thee conceive what that Day of Distinction will be? 14 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 15 Did We not destroy many a nation of the earlier times? 16 and make others settle after them in their land? 17 thus do We deal with the culprits. 18 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 19 Did We not create you from a worthless water (semen, etc.)? 20 Which We laid up in a safe abode 21 For a known extent. 22 We then calculated; so how excellently do We control! 23 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 24 Have We not made the earth a container 25 for the living and the dead, 26 And made therein mountains standing firm, lofty (in stature); and provided for you water sweet (and wholesome)? 27 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 28 Depart to that which you belied! 29 Proceed to that shadow, rising in three columns 30 which neither gives shade nor protects one from the flames. 31 The fire will shoot out sparks as big as huge towers 32 which seem as though they are yellow-coloured camels. 33 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 34 They will not be able to speak that day, 35 And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse. 36 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have assembled both ye and the ancients. 38 So if you have any plot to devise against Me, then devise it. 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
