Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts, 2 by (the angels) spreading (the words of God) far and wide, 3 and the severally severing 4 Then spread abroad a Message, 5 To clear or to warn. 6 Surely that which ye are promised will befall. 7 So when the stars are made to lose their light, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are blown away; 10 and the appointed time to bring the Messengers together arrives, (then shall the promised event come to pass). 11 For what Day are these (portents) deferred? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what knowest thou what the Day of Decision is? 14 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 15 Did We not destroy the ancient people 16 So shall We make the later ones to follow them. 17 That is what We shall do to those who are guilty of crime. 18 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 19 Did We not create you from a worthless water (semen, etc.)? 20 Then We placed it in a secure resting-place, 21 Till a limit known? 22 And We determined [it], and excellent [are We] to determine. 23 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle, 25 for both the living and the dead? 26 place on it high mountains and provide you with fresh water? 27 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 28 [They will be told], "Proceed to that which you used to deny. 29 "Depart you to a shadow (of Hell-fire smoke ascending) in three columns, 30 "Neither shading, nor of any use against the fierce flame of the Fire." 31 It will throw out sparks as logs of wood 32 As if they were tawny camels. 33 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 34 They will not be able to speak that day, 35 nor shall they be permitted to offer excuses. 36 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 37 That will be a Day of Decision! We have brought you and the men of old together! 38 So if you have any ploy, try it against Me! 39 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 40
