The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
