The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 , A fitting reward. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
