The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
