The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great tidings! 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 The night a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
