The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the Great News 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 The night a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a fitting requital, 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
