The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 The night a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
