The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
