The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 Requital corresponding. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
