The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
