The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
