The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
