The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
