The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the Great News 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a fitting requital, 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
