The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
