The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great tidings! 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
