The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great tidings! 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And dense gardens. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 Requital corresponding. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
