The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 save boiling water and pus 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
