The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they differ? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
