The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the Great News 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
