The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
