The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 and gently take it away; 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
