The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 By the angels hastening, 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 And the second followeth it, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
