The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
