The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 you pay attention 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
