The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And who glide with ease. 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 you pay attention 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
