He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 To him you give attention. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and fearfully, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and olives and palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
