He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 when the blind came to him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 to a rich man, 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 You neglect. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
