He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and who has fear of God, 9 you ignore him. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 May man be slain how ungrateful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and palms 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruits and pastures 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
