The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
