He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 So you are after him! 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and in awe [of God] 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 Mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
