He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and in awe of God 9 you ignore him. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And olives and palms 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Dust shall cover them 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
