He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 You neglect. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
