He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And he fears, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 exalted and purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olives and palms 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing and joyful, 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
