He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 and covered by darkness. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
