He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him you attend; 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
