He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 You neglect. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted and purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
