He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 you attend to him, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
